OK Bokeh is a cozy word-find toy developed by Dialogs (dialogsapps.ai). This policy explains what data the toy collects, how it is used, and how it is stored.
1. Information We Collect
OK Bokeh collects only what is necessary to provide the experience and optional cloud sync:
Email address — collected only if you choose to create an account. Used solely for authentication via AWS Cognito.
Settings — your preferences such as theme, bokeh style, difficulty, word category, and the various toggles.
Progress — which words you have resolved (and when, and how long each took), and your daily-word streak.
That is the complete list. OK Bokeh does not collect:
Your name, phone number, or physical address
Device identifiers, IP-based location, or hardware fingerprints
Browsing history or activity outside the toy
Any data via cookies, analytics tools, tracking pixels, or advertising SDKs
2. How We Use Your Information
Authentication — your email is used to create and verify your account so you can sign in across devices.
Cloud sync — if you are signed in, your settings and progress are synced to the cloud so they are available on any device where you sign in.
We do not sell, rent, or share your data with third parties for marketing or advertising. We do not use your data for profiling or targeted advertising.
3. Data Storage
Your data is stored in the following locations depending on how you use the toy:
Web browser — localStorage in your browser. This data stays on your device and is not transmitted unless you sign in. Installing OK Bokeh to your home screen as a progressive web app uses the same browser storage.
Cloud sync (optional) — if you create an account and sign in, your settings and progress are stored in AWS DynamoDB in the us-east-1 region.
4. Third-Party Services
OK Bokeh relies on the following third-party services, and only when you sign in:
AWS Cognito — handles account creation, login, and token management. Subject to the AWS Privacy Policy.
AWS API Gateway, Lambda, and DynamoDB — power the cloud sync feature. Your settings and progress pass through these services when syncing.
All fonts, code, and assets are bundled with the app and served from its own origin — there are no third-party CDNs, web fonts, analytics services, advertising networks, or social media SDKs. If you are not signed in, the toy makes no third-party network requests at all.
5. Children's Privacy
OK Bokeh is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided personal information through the toy, please contact us at bw@dialogs.com and we will promptly delete it.
6. Data Retention
Local data (browser localStorage) remains on your device until you clear it or uninstall the app. Cloud-synced data is retained in DynamoDB for as long as your account exists. If you delete your account — from within the app or by request — your cloud data will be removed.
7. Your Rights
You may at any time:
Use the toy without an account — all core functionality works locally with no data transmitted.
Request a copy of your data — email us and we will provide the data associated with your account.
Delete your data — delete your account and all associated cloud data from within the app, or email us to do so.
Clear local data — clear your browser's localStorage or uninstall the app to remove all on-device data.
8. Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with a revised effective date. Continued use of the toy after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
